This battery kit is solely designed for back-up use. For certain carriage door opener models, the system runs entirely off the transformer input. When that input is absent, the gate opener switches over to the battery backup for approximately 6 to 10 cycles. The incoming power charges the batteries between cycles. The two batteries (12 volt, 5.0 amp-hour) in this kit must be used in series. Brand name may vary.
